Hyatt Hill Country Resort and Spa in San Antonio is what a Texas Resort is supposed to be on all levels. The service alone is a perfect representation of what Texas hospitality is and this resort just “Feels like Texas” in every single way. From the moment my family and I arrived we were treated perfectly. “Happy wife happy life” is the phrase that comes to mind because as much as I work the few times the family can get away are very important and this single weekend quick trip was great because we decided to stay here.

I decided to book my deal for the resort on Hotels.com and chose to add the Awaken Package to add the optional breakfast buffets for a total of $219.69 with taxes and another $20 for the resort fee once we checked out. Our plans were to go to Seaworld for the day and check into the resort late at around 6:00 p.m. and spend our time there just relaxing.

Our room was very clean upon inspection and the smell was fine with zero odors. Sleeping conditions were nice with comfortable sheets and firm comfortable pillow top beds. The room was equipped with a large flat screen television with HD stations and we even had an in room ipod stereo docking station so I could listen to my country music.

We noticed a coffee maker, small refrigerator, some very nice soaps and even toothpaste which was a nice touch.

The room had a small patio area with some chairs but our view was nothing special just part of the parking lot and a grassy area is about it.

This resort is made for pure relaxation and my first stop was to check out the porch area right outside the lobby. You can grab a wooden chair and just sit and think and relax which is perfect on a nice chilly night. There are plenty of walking trails on this resort and they even provide bicycles in case you want to ride around the property with your family.

Over at the pool area they have a cool looking LAZY RIVER and I just can not wait to return when the weather warms up to drift down it with my wife and son. I even happen to notice some brave souls drifting the lazy river even though it was cold weather so they must be die hard lazy river fans.

Next to the pool is a bar and grille called Papa Ed’s which looks like the perfect place to drink yourself into relaxation and slumber after a long swim.

As mentioned I added the Awaken Package which meant a breakfast buffet so in the morning we made our way to the breakfast cafe and simply stated this was worth the extra $35 and every penny of it. The buffet was perfect with every assortment of breakfast item imaginable. What I especially liked was the omelette station that unlike most other omelette stations I have visited had “texas sized link style country sausage” as an option for adding into the omelette, yes it is the small things that you remember and that was really nice. The chef was generous with all ingredients and my work of art was hot and super good down to every last bite.

You may be noticing a little bear waffle in my pictures, this bear was eaten with butter and lots of syrup. Damn good breakfast!!

Hyatt Hill Country Resort and Spa in San Antonio is everything I wanted in a relaxing weekend. I look forward to returning when the weather warms up to take more advantage of the outside areas of interest on the property. This was some the the best money I have spent in a long time. Hopefully my next trip is for longer then one night so I can report back on some of the other areas of the resort and maybe some of the on property daily activities as well.
