Hotel check out from Courtyard by Marriott Austin Downtown was at 11:00 so me and my friends wanted to make the most out of our time in Austin. The night before we looked up breakfast places near our hotel. Twenty minutes away a breakfast place called PaperBoy popped up. We decided to go there, but little did we know what was in store for us.

The next morning we Uber, PaperBoy was a small white peaceful building. The patio had small little plants and a window for holding pastries next to the entrance to the door. We went inside and there was a 10-minute wait.

I was surprised because we got there right as it opened. Once inside we walked through a seated area next to an open bar. We made our way upstairs to the rooftop where we were seated.

We met the nice waitress and ordered some coffee. After scanning the menu and asked what she recommended. She recommended the Classic breakfast or the Texas Hash. She said the hash browns are the best here. Matteo was already eyeing the Chicken and Biscuit while Johnson was undecided yet. Soon after, they brought us our coffee. I ordered a hot cup of coffee and Johnson got an Earl Grey cold brew. Both were very flavorful and you can not go wrong with either one.

Soon it was time to order, so I ordered the Classic Breakfast with substituted potato wedges for hash browns. Matteo ordered the Chicken and Biscuit meanwhile Johnson ordered the Migas

We waited about 30 minutes or so. We enjoyed the view of the building next door while looking at a dog nearby.

The food arrived and the smell of hash browns and chicken hit are noses. My first instinct was to go for the hash browns I took one bite and knew they were to die for. The substitution for hash browns were worth it!  We were all silent and the only words we spoke of were complementing the food.

I had a small bite of Mateo’s Chicken and biscuit. The flavor almost knocked me out. I slowly tried to savor my meal then I went for the toast, surprisingly the toast did not disappoint. Usually, most breakfast places slack on their toast but not this spot. I tried their homemade jam and the sweet flavor stabbed my tongue.

According to the waiter everything was made in-house including the jam, toast and tortillas. Johnson’s Migas came with the option of flour or corn tortillas.

Everything at Paperboy was fresh. It was difficult to move. We were stuffed. I look forward to going back to the Paperboy on 11th Street in Austin, TX.
