Dos Tacos comes to Katy, TX. You can find tacos almost anywhere these days. There’s always that one special place that makes them so great, but of course it’s too far or maybe a place you went to during vacation so it’s out of reach. Fortunately for us, Dos Tacos is right down the street practically in our back yard . A newly built business plaza recently opened up and I saw an adorable sign, Dos Tacos coming soon. I looked forward to checking them out and I’m always looking for that flavor that reminds me of back home in Monterey, Mexico.

Walking in my eyes are drawn to the red vibrant colored walls. The Dos Tacos employees give you the nicest welcome. I checked out the menu while waiting in line.

I passed by a fridge that displayed the glass bottled cokes and Jarritos. It took me back to my childhood. As I got closer to being next, I noticed Aguas frescas!! My absolute favorite, agua de Jamaica!! If you’ve never had it before, it is a refreshing hibiscus cold tea. I always order it if it’s available. I make it on occasion but it can be a chore to make it so I don’t always make it. So if it’s available I get it.

Since I am with my husband and teenage son I knew I needed to order enough tacos for all of us. I decide to order three tacos each of pastor, carnitas and chorizo, “con todo”. “Con todo” means the tacos includes grilled onions, onions, cilantro, and salsa. For good measure I also added from the menu, Mi casa specialities the quesabirrias. It was perfect because that order comes with three quesabirrias.

My husband thought I ordered too much but the tacos were street style corn tortillas which are on the small side but don’t let the size fool you. Dos Tacos loads it up. Our tacos came out super hot and looked so tasty!

The smiling guy came and asked if we needed anything else. A lady came by later on with some special oil and super hot sauce. She warned us it was super hot and she was right! So you’ve been warned! I dove right into to the tacos de pastor.

Wow weeeee!! The flavor is outstanding!! I noticed that they prepare the meat in house. You can see the big trompos of meat behind the counter against the back wall. The flavor of the meat was very authentic. I could tell it was something very special.

My favorite were the tacos de pastor and my husband favored the tacos de carnitas.

I just loved the mixture and saturation of the spices in the pastor. My son’s favorite were the tacos de chorizo.

I’m really glad I ordered a variety of meats. The chorizo tocos were filled with chopped up sausage and it is unlike the kind you eat for breakfast. It had a mouth watering flavor. My favorite part of our order were the quesabirrias. The juices within the Birria meat was marinated to perfection. The juices soaked the tortillas. Let just say have plenty of napkins ready. The quesabirrias came with a huge pool of consomé! Every bite has blast of flavor.

As we enjoyed our meal, another kind employee stopped by with chips and queso on the house. I thought I couldn’t eat another bite but these crispy thick chips and hot queso was difficult to pass up. Not one chip broke in the process of being dipped in the hot bright yellow queso. Honestly it could’ve been a meal on its own.

When I thought our dinner couldn’t get any better we met Omar Aceves. He is the owner of Dos Tacos. Omar came by and greeted us. He was warm and friendly. We praised him on his food. Omar takes great pride in the quality of the food he serves. We learned that Omar is also a cancer survivor. He is so grateful to be cancer free and works hard to help other cancer patients and survivors. There is a genuine sense about Omar. I hope he and his business thrives for the long term.

There is a new taco place in town and it will EASILY be the best in Katy, Texas. Dos Tacos is the greatest, good feeling and no judgment of over ordering atmosphere ever!!
