When someone suggests I try out a Cajun restaurant I’m always hesitant because growing up eating authentic Cajun cooking has spoiled me. However, I’ve had so many people suggest BB’s and insert how great the food is that I just had to venture on over for lunch. Walking in the atmosphere immediately takes you to down south Louisiana and the music playing reminds you of the French Quarter on a Friday night. The upbeat jazz melodies and big band harmonies are my favorite. It was seat yourself and since the weather was so nice we decided to head out to their covered patio area. We were greeted promptly and had sweet teas in hand within a few minutes. Our server was great and more than happy to make some suggestions for our appetizer and entrees.

We elected to start off with Loaded Pollo Bullets that sounded spicy and savory and right up my alley when it comes to pretty much any food, let’s be honest. And, I was not disappointed! The chicken was juicy and the bacon was crispy, the perfect way to start our meal. We looked over the vast menu of deep south favorites and both of us decided on po-boys. I love this dish because it’s easy to eat and perfect for lunch but not as simple as your average sandwich. I took our server’s suggestion and went with the Midnight Madness po-boy – a French baguette piled high with roast beef debris and their wonderful cajun cream sauce, lettuce, tomato, and seasonings. My lunch buddy decided on the fried shrimp po-boy – seasoned and fried golden shrimp with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. When our entrees came to the table we were taken aback by the shear size of our plates. We knew that neither of us could finish our meals but that’s the Louisiana way and I’ve always been a fan of leftovers. We dug in and I was so surprised at how much I enjoyed my po-boy. This sandwich was so much more than a sandwich it was a feast! My friend felt just the same about her choice. It was filling and definitely hit the spot.

BB’s is a locally owned and operated chain of restaurants right here in the Houston area serving their famed Tex-Orleans cooking. They have many locations around Houston so check out their website for one near you! Also, connect with them on Facebook for events and more information. I would highly recommend trying them out and I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience there. Thanks, BB’s!!
