Looking for a country bar in the big city? Craving a juicy steak on a Tuesday? The Hideaway is the place for you. I’ve driven by Dunvale in Houston countless times and never knew it existed. My good friend and I have been wanting to meet up for lunch for some time and finally had a chance to catch up here at The Hideaway. She introduced me to this hidden place located in front of an apartment complex. Not exactly what I expected a country/live music type bar place would be located at, but hey why not?! I was surprised to see plenty of seating outside, which was very nice during nice weather.

I noticed there were string lights over the tables and chairs and under the patio too. I bet that looks pretty cool at night. My friend picked a table for us.

I looked around and saw a cool pool table and bar. This is a great place to hang out with friends to enjoy an adult beverage.

During our lunch outing we didn’t order anything special to drink, maybe if there was more of crowd and live music we probably would’ve. We decided to keep it low key for today. Since my friend was a frequent visitor at The Hideaway I asked her to order what she thought was good. We shared the baked potato with some toppings. It was pretty tasty. I’ve never had salsa with a baked potato and it actually paired up very well. The second dish she ordered was chicken nachos. I am so glad we shared it because it was huge! Most places that serve nachos have usually disappointed me either they skimp on the cheese or toppings. Not at The Hideaway, it was really delicious with an even proportion of cheese throughout and all over the nachos. You also get a-lot of chicken on top. I could’ve used extra sour cream which I will remember to order extra next time.

My friend and I ate for about almost two hours and she had to head back to work. Meanwhile, I went inside and took some photographs inside The Hideaway. The walls were filled with dollar bills, this reminded me of the gum wall in Seattle.

The bar was filled with plenty of drinks on tap and televisions. There was more people inside by this time, enjoying a drink at the bar.

I surely hope and pray all these establishments that my family and I have visited and enjoyed over the years, endure this time. The pandemic will hurt the restaurant industry and I hope they come out of this stronger than ever.
