As I prepared to start my day I was immediately excited by the opportunity I was to have at the Katy Taste Fest although the weather did seem it was going to be an issue. I checked and checked right up until we were set to leave and it looked like we would inevitably be fighting the rain through our festivities but come rain or shine the foodies will fest. When we arrived at The Villagio Town Center I was not surprised that even though it was already starting to drizzle the turnout was amazing.

We started with check in and wristbands and we were off. There were so many tents we weren’t even sure where to begin. We decided to work our way around the edges and then go back through the middle. We stopped at a few different booths and sampled their fares pausing to go back for drinks under the beer tasting tent sponsored by No Label Brewery. The variety was splendid among the booths from Peli Peli, South African inspired dining, to Old Chicago Pizza, a genuine brick oven pizzeria and tap room, to one of my recently discovered favorite spots, Local Table. All of the vendors were so kind and more than happy to answer any questions and tell you all about what they had to offer. We sampled everything we could and then found where they were stashing desserts. All the while, there were local artists playing music in the background at the front of the assortment. Toward the back of the set up was a silent auction area where one could bid on baskets donated by local businesses as a way to put money back into our community.

What I think is so great about these events is their ability to foster community involvement. Bringing people together for a good cause to enjoy themselves and indulge in some of the best food Katy has to offer. I think that it is a testament to how great this event was that even though we were drenched by the end we still had a wonderful time. I am looking forward to attending another Katy Taste Fest and can’t wait to see what else they have in store.
